Apple crack

The new Apple music service is dangerous. Have you heard about it? They have music from all 5 major music labels. You browse their offerings (tons and tons of stuff) and every song has a 30 second preview. You click one button by the song, and wham! your credit card is charged 99 cents and you have the song in your computer, perfect digital copy of the song. You can then burn it on as many CDs as you want to, send it to your other home computers, send it to your music player, whatever.

I had to refrain myself from clicking that buy button so many times. At 99 cents a song it’s a freaking impulse buy.

Apple crack, I tell you.

MXC

Today I saw a couple comments from people I don’t know on my quick write up about TNN’s The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge.

I wondered why that was, so I typed Most Extreme Elimination Challenge on Google and it turns out that I’m the first link.

It’s creepy. But welcome to my site. I hope the show takes off because it’s the funniest show on TV right now. Right up there with Will & Grace. I hope TNN buys more episodes, I really, really, do. And then it better come out on DVD so that I can laugh my ass off whenever I’m in the mood. In the meanwhile, I’m storing them in my TiVo.

My dream

I rarely ever remember my dreams, and they are usually happy dreams. I do remember a dream I had last night though.

I dreamt about ET riding a bike around my front yard, and then he made it all the way to the stop sign down the street and a car had to slam on its breaks. ET then came back and we put up a fence

Later there was an alien that looked like a black rabbit, except that he had those really big alien eyes. He bit my toe and wouldn’t let go and in the meanwhile he talked to me telepathically “I am an alien and I’m talking to you.”

They listened to me

Lately I have been complaining about the music that my gym plays. I started by saying that the easy-listening music they were playing was not very good work-out music. To my surprise they changed it, but to 70s disco music. I like disco music as much as anyone else, but not for 2 hrs straight, every single time I go work out. So I made a comment about how there is also great dance music made after the year 2000.

I am happy to report that I got to the gym yesterday and they were playing new dance music. It was upbeat and good to work out with. I hope they stick with it.

After the workout I went to the locker-room to shower and change. I decided to take a glance at the comments board on the way in only to see that someone had written “Wear a towel, fat people!!” and that just pissed me off. I have several friends who are pretty fat, I used to be pretty fat, there is no reason for anyone to write that. The fact that those people are at the gym means that they are doing something about it. And if you do not like what you see, maybe you should not be checking them out.

I alerted one of the staff members about it and they removed the comment from the board.

That was my good deed for the week. Now I get to be my usual mean self again for a few days.

Dark and scary campus

I was checking out a blog (ofadam.com) that one of our students writes and I came across a section he called “Dark and scary campus“. They are moody, and sometimes creepy, pictures of what otherwise is a beautiful campus. I love them.

The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge

Once in a while there is a show on TV that comes out of nowhere and you get hooked. That’s what happened to me with this new show on TNN called “The Most Extreme Elimination Challenge”. It’s freaking hilarious. I was laughing so hard I couldn’t stop.

It’s a Japanese gameshow called “Takeshi’s Castle”. Then it’s badly dubbed with offensive and funny voice overs. The contestants go through all sort of physical challenges. But the best part is that they get hurt. And they get hurt badly. I hurt just by watching the show.

It’s on TNN, Saturdays and Sundays around 7 or 8 - check your local listings. They normally show two 30 minutes shows and trust me, it’s worth your time. TNN has purchased 13 episodes, let’s hope people watch it and they purchase more.

I wish I could show you how fun this show is, this is the only site I found with decent pictures of it. Keep in mind that the pictures (and videos) do not do it justice. Just watch it one day and you’ll thank me.

Edit - enough has been said. No need to allow for more comments. I hope TNN notices that this show is a hit.

Hiiiiidie howwwwww!

On the comments for the From the think-before-you-speak department entry I’m being asked why I asked someone to search for “poop”.

Well, it was the first thing that came to my head. Poop is comedic gold. Poop makes people giggle. Poop is a very malleable term.

From the think-before-you-speak department

I just got a call at work.

Someone asking about a search bar on her computer. I needed to know what search engine it sent her too so I asked her to search for something and she says “What should I search for!?!?” and I just said “I don’t know, type ‘poop’ I don’t care.”

Dance, dance revolution

Lately my gym has been playing easy listening music. It’s hard to work out while listening to Celine Dion and Jewel.

But it was different last night, you could hear some rythm. I could feel the beat. Hey, a cheesy disco song, that’s great! I looked at the suggestions board and someone had written “Much better music, thank you!” - I was happy.

So I start my workout and I notice that the next song is another 70s dance song. Followed by another one. Next thing I know, I’m doing the elliptical while listening to The Village People’s “In the Navy” followed by the Charlie’s Angel’s soundtrack.

After I was done working out, I wrote this on the suggestions board:
“I agree, but the 21st century also has great dance music.”

Children at play

When I drive home I have to make a right turn onto my street. Right on the intersection there is this nice house. Children live in that house. Children love to play on that front yard and at least once a month I have to slam on my breaks because the small kind loves to run into the street following a ball, or just because he is running.

Now, keep in mind that I am making a turn, so I’m not going faster than 10-12 mph, but it’s fast enough to really hurt a small kid.

I wish parents would do the parenting thing, which would be to either sit there with their kids and forbid them from running to the road, or make the kids play in the backyard away from traffic.
