CDs are slowToday, for the first time in years (I’m not kidding), I have put a music CD in my computer’s drive (or “chamber” as a student who called the helpdesk kept calling it). I was choosing songs to encode so that I could have them on my computer. Note to RIAA: I own the CD, I just want to take it with me. I am so used to being able to click on any song and have it start playing immediately, that I thought something was wrong the first time I clicked on another track and had to wait about 1 second to start hearing my selection. I’m spoiled. But I don’t want to go back to CDs.
Internet music libraryThis is kind of cool. The new iTunes from Apple allows you to share your music library, but not just within your local network, but also through the Internet. A lot of people are letting you connect to their computer and listen to their entire music library. Someone has set up a website where people post their IP addresses when they are online and you can connect to their iTunes. What’s impressive is that the sound quality is perfect. I’m not sure how Apple is doing it, but there doesn’t seem to be buffering (I can jump to any part of any song and it starts playing immediately) and the sound quality is as good as if the file was being played locally (ie. not crappy streaming sound quality). The morning afterI’m not sure at what time I “fell sleep” on Dennis’ couch last night. I think it was around 1:30 or 2. Why is it that the best conversations always happen when you are, er, sloshed? We talked about so many things, many of them interesting. Thankfully nothing embarrasing was said that I regreted the next morning (like last time.) I woke up around 8:45 am. I’ve been drinking a lot of water which is helping. The drive home this morning was not fun. I hate the morning after.
Definitely not mindless entertainmentIf you have nothing better to do, check out this adventure game made in Flash. I’m addicted to it. Can you get out of the room? What’s behind that door? I’ve made it pretty far. Emailing under the influenceIn the Posting Under the Influence topic, Brian told me to stay away from e-mail as well. So I thought I’d share with you a drunken post I made on a bulletin board one day: Hello boys and girls. I’m wriging from Las Vega where I’m drunk. I’m so drunk. Bye. See tyou in a gfeww days. Posting under the influenceI think that there will be drinking involved tonight. A lot of it. Good thing that I won’t have access to my website or I may be tempted to post under the influence. I could always try it one day and see what comes out.
