Christmas Party

My office had the annual Christmas party on Friday. We don’t do like most other places, where they have a big fancy party and everyone and their husbands/wifes show up. They all drink, eat, laugh and leave.

Ours are more like something you’d do with friends. First, we have a pot-luck lunch. After the lunch there is the usual “rah rah speech”.

Then we move on to an activity. Last year we all went bowling. This year we all went to Pottery Works. Basically it’s a place where they have pottery and you pain it with glace. Then they put it in the oven and you pick it up a few days later.

We could choose from different items such as plates, mugs, ornaments, tiles, etc. The plates were rather big, the mugs are round, so I chose to decorate 2 tiles.

Now, you have to keep in mind that I have no artistic skills whatsoever. That is one of the reasons why this website looks so bland. No, I did not create my charicature at the top of this page. Heck, I flunked art in 7th grade and I had to make up work that summer.

They had some stencils. Those were rather easy to use. I was going for a space theme. You know, stars, moons, planets and stuff like that. I then saw a very cool stamp in the shape of a big star. So I picked it up, put blue paint and used it. I ended up with some blue blob that looked like something that could grow on your back and they’d have to get rid of surgically. Mind you, this blob took up 90% of one of my tiles. I had no idea what to do with it, so I put it to the side to come back to it later. Eventually I put some little stars around the blue blob and called it a day.

Once we were all done, we all at all the creations and we pointed and laughed at each other.

It was 3:30 pm and we decided that it would be a good time to start drinking. So we all drove to a bar in town where we can all drink and play darts. And there we were, drinking for about 7 hours. I got buzzed but never drunk. I actually paced myself. I also think that I never got drunk because I didn’t have any tequila, which I usually have when I’m drinking.

We did have a “carbomb” which was great and gave the other person who had it with me a pretty good buzz. Basically you put a little bit of whiskey and Bailey’s in a shot glass. Then you drop the shotglass in a small glass filled with Guiness beer.

It’s magically delicious!
