My weekend

My weekend sucked. I got stuck working, 6 hrs each day, Saturday and Sunday. Then back to work today. It’s not that I mind too much, I had no plans. I was just going to sit at home and watch TV. Now I get 2 extra days of vacation that I’m sure will be much better enjoyed in Oceanside, CA.

P-Unit

I see videos and flash animations here on the intarweb just about everyday. Few of them truly make me laugh and barely any of them make me want to tell other people about them, much less about them here.

But I came across one that I think it’s simply pure genious. It’s brilliant. It’s P-Unit’s “Generic Rap Song”.

The lyrics are hilarious. The beat is catchy. They got the personalities of each rapper down to a T. It’s great, specially if you’ve watched the music videos of most of the artists they parody, or at least know their style of music.

I recommend that you download the DiVX version of it if you have the correct codecs to watch it. It’s a 57MB download (plus the codecs if needed), but it’s well worth it.

Clapping at the wrong things

If you watched the state of the Union last night, you may have noticed something that, at least I, found interesting.

Bush was going on and on about marriage and how gays are immoral (blah blah). Then some people stood up and started clapping. Did you look behind Bush? Yeah, did you notice Cheney? He stood up and clapped. And you know what? His daughter is a lesbian.

I wonder how she feels.

State of the Union

One of the nice things about reading the foreign press is that you get to read things that you will never read if you only pay attention to the American media.

Return of the Bore

As I predicted before, a friend dragged me to see the third, and thankfully final, part of Lord of the Rings, Return of the King.

Things I learned this time around:
- The third part is two acutually movies: one involves just fighting evil, and the other movie is what the movie should have been all along, the destruction of the ring. In other words, this whole thing could have been just one 2-hour movie as opposed to three 3-hour movies.
- 3.5 hrs do feel like 3.5 hrs.
- 20 minute naps are not so bad.
- Evil soldiers are easily killed by horses.
- Horses are easily killed by giant elephants.
- Giants elephants are easily killed by midgets ridding on horses.
- Giant spiders can see you without needing to feel the vibrations on a web.
- When dying of hunger, the sight of bread alone will give you enough energy to keep going.
- Cities are attacked for no reason whatsoever.
- The guy from “Scream” rides a flying snake.
- Princesses kick ass when it comes to defeating flying snakes.
- Wizards with all sort of powers on the first movie, run around acting powerless for the last 3.5 hours

Bore of the Rings is now over and we can all finally move on.

2003 Taxes

I’m done with my taxes. Yay!

I went to Turbotax.com and I filed the 1040EZ and state taxes electronically. Total $15.90 and I’ll have my refund deposited to my checking account in about 2 weeks. It sure beat making an appointment with H&R Block and paying $45 for the same service.

Shift

On the way back from San Diego, flying with America West, the flight attendad said this when we landed:
“And please be careful when opening the overhead storage as items may have shifted during flight. Shift happens.”

1-800-COLLECT

For the past few days, someone with, I think, an Asian name, keeps calling my home phone number using 1-800-COLLECT. I don’t recognize the number.

Normally I just hang up. I should probably request an operator and tell her to tell the caller that he has the wrong number and to stop calling us. But I feel lazy, or evil enough, not to do it and let the guy wonder why his calls are not being accepted nor declined.

But then the phone rang at 5 am this morning. As you know, when the phone rings at that time, you think that something bad has happened. So I jumped out of bed to see that it was the mystery 1-800-COLLECT guy again. So this time I actually pushed the button on the phone to decline the call. To my surprise I hear “Thank you, the call is now connected.”

Waaahhhhh!!!?? I wanted to decline, not accept the charges. So I hang up immediately, which probably confused the caller even more.

To my surprise he didn’t call back. This morning when I got up, I called 1-800-COLLECT’s customer service and they made sure that I wouldn’t be charged for that call. So I guess that if the guy calls back again, I’ll request an operator to tell him to stop calling me.
