Allergic to the sun

Ever since I can remember, I have sneezed if I would go outside while it was very sunny. If it’s very bright outside, I will sneeze within 1 to 5 seconds of stepping outdoors. Although sometimes it also happens while I drive and I face the sun. My eyes close because it’s bright, and suddenly my nose itches and I sneeze. It’s ridiculous.

It used to bug me a lot as a kid. I remember that one time, for a few days, I was on a crusade to find out why that was. I asked most every adult that I had any kind of respect for (parents, teachers, etc) and I remember that no one was able to give me an answer.

Well, I have finally come across the answer. It’s called “Photic sneeze reflex” and according to the website, it happens to 1/6 to 1/4 of the population.

I’m glad to read that I’m not the only freak out there.
