Here I am!
Now, I didn’t die. I was actually celebrating that I have survived life for yet another year. I went out to San Diego to celebrate my 31st birthday. 31 years. That’s way, way too old.
I had a wonderful time. Between going to the beach, going out with friends, playing drunken darts, and just spending good quality time with great friends.
I went to Disneyland on my birthday and it was a blast. Probably one of my most memorable visits ever to the park. I have an annual pass and so they have my birthday in their system. Every time I went through the turnstiles, their screen said that it was my birthday and they’d go “Happy birthday David!”
I went to City Hall at Disneyland and they gave me a birthday sticker with my name. So all day long, every time I ran into one of their employees, they’d wish me a happy birthday. I know it sounds stupid, but it was kind of fun.
While I was getting my sticker at City Hall, the guy said “oh, YOU are David! Someone actually left a message for you.” I looked at him kind of confused but since I do have a friend who works there, I thought that maybe it was him. And the guy continued “yeah, he was tall and skinny…” Well, that was definitely not my friend. So the guy hands me a phone and said “here, listen to his message.” And then I hear Goofy wishing me a happy birthday and singing the song to me. I was Punk’d by Disneyland!
Ron and I were waiting in line at the Alice in Wonderland ride and the girl working the ride saw my sticker and, as all employees had done, she wished me a happy birthday. Then she looked at Ron and said “and a very happy un-birthday to you!” Just like in the movie. So stupid, but so funny at the same time. Then she let us cut the line and got to ride immediately.
We also went to one of the stores and the lady at the register wished me a happy birthday and gave me a free brownie. Considering Disney prices that was probably a whole $3 value right there!
We also went to the Mission Tortilla exhibit (or The Tortilla Experience!!!!!! like we always call it) and they gave me a free bag of freshly made tortillas.
So now you know. Make sure you go to Disneyland and your birthday and don’t forget your birthday sticker. It’s your key to free stuff.
