Strange e-mail exchange

One of our systems at work will be taken off-line for a few hours for some maintenance so I sent an email to all users notifying them ahead of time of the downtime.

I got an email back that just said: “Why?”

And I replied with:
“There is an update that we would like to install that addresses some bugs that several people have run into.”

And he wrote back:
“Why has that happened?”

So I wrote:
“The company releases software and, like with most other piece of software, there are issues that crop up during its real-world usage that were not caught in the testing stage. The patch that they have released this week fixes those outstanding issues.”

I figured that this would settle it but he replied once again:
“Why does that happen too?”

At this point I didn’t think he could be serious so I wrote:
“Sometimes us computer people get sidetracked with other things and make mistakes….” and I attached this picture.

His final reply was:
“Oh…i understand now……thanks”
