Home sweet homeI’ve been a subscriber of Google’s Keyhole for a few months now. Recently, they have released new mapping data and to my surprise, they had added imagery for my hometown, Bilbao, Spain. And after playing with it for a bit, I found my home, the playground, my school, the park where I used to go and feed the ducks, etc. Here is a cropped screenshot with some of those personal landmarks.

Why?I mean, really, why? No pass for you!My Movie Pass idea had its merits, but my local theater didn’t seem to like it. Here’s the reply they sent me:
All I can say is, they obviously don’t get it. Making profit is not impossible like they say; the key here is to find the sweet spot. A price high enough to afford the per-movie payment, yet reasonable enough that people would be willing to pay. This is like a buffet, you will lose money with some, you will earn money with some.
Movie passI had to email my local movie theater to get an idea off my chest. A season pass for the movies. What if you could buy a pass for $100 for a year of “all you can watch” movies? You show up, flash your card, you get a “free” ticket. They always say that theaters make their money off the concensions stand anyway, so they wouldn’t be too hurt by that. Then I would also not be so picky as to what movies I go see. And if a movie sucks, no big deal, we’ll try again next weekend.
Freedom hurtsThis photoshopped picture by BlondSense made me laugh out loud.
Digital camerasMy digital camera died yesterday. I’m not in the mood to make a several hundred dollar investment but I cannot imagine being without one. I’ve always had a digital camera ready to go for many years. I started doing research on the latest models and I barely find any I like. The Nikon Coolpix S2 has some features that I like but it’s not available yet. I’m totally lusting after the Sony M1 but I’m afraid that it’s slightly thicker than I wanted it to be and I wonder if unfolding and rotating the LCD screen every time you want to take a picture will get annoying after a while. The Sony T7 camera looks deliciously small but I hear that the battery life is absolutely horrible and ruins what it has going for it. I’m really just in search of a small digital camera that will easily fit in my pockets, specially jean pockets. Something not too heavy but with a decent battery life. I don’t care if it’s 5,6 or 7 megapixels. I also hate the idea of having a dock but this seems unavoidable anymore. Why do I want to waste desk space and always have it plugged in? I rather keep my camera out of my way, in a drawer, and get to it whenever I need it. I also have an area with power adapters and chargers, if I want to charge it, I rather do it, but a dock forces you to do it all by your computer. Ideally, my digital camera would not force you to use a dock by having connectors right on the camera. So far I guess that the M1 is top on my list but I’m still undecided. UPDATE Well, after researching some camera dimensions, I see that the M1 is not necessarily much smaller than the one I have now. Actually, it’s slightly longer but slightly thinner and a tad less wide. I found a great camera by Kodak, the V550 which seems pretty cool but it’s not out until June. I may just wait for it. So much for taking a camera to Gary’s bday party tonight though. UPDATE 2 I fixed my previous camera. How? I plugged the adapter into the outlet in order for the camera to charge. I’m a genius! So this means no new camera…. for now. But I will keep an eye on the cameras that I have found and like.

Zero GSide effects of doing a Zero G manouver with your airplane. Windows Media video clip, safe for work and not gross. Flair day at workLast year we had the First Annual Flair Day at work. This year, well, it is the Second Annual Flair Day at work. This is where we all get to wear flair to work, as on the excellent movie, Office Space. This is me wearing my flair.
Commander Cuckoo-BananasThe Simpsons, how can you not love them? Last night’s episode was brilliant, as usual. Did everyone catch this exchange?
