Colonoscopy

Due to some family history, I was told that I should probably get a colonoscopy now instead of having until 50. So that is what I had done today.

Last night I had to take 2 liters of what I dubbed “magic pooping powder” mixed with water. It was a treat. I probably lost weight thanks to it.

Then this morning, at the hospital, I had to take 2 more litters of the stuff and every time I would poop, I would have to put my toilet paper in a basket and then call the nurse so that she could look at my poop in the toilet. Eventually, they claimed I was “clean” so they started me with an IV.

An hour or so later, they came and got me. They pumped me full of morphine (since I’m allergic to demerol) and then some drug to make me drowsy and out of it. I was kind of out of it but I remember watching most of the procedure on a TV near my bed. I didn’t feel anything during the procedure, I did feel some pain once and I said so and gave me more drugs.

All in all, it was nothing like I feared it would be, I’m glad I got it done.

And thankfully, I got an “all clear” - they didn’t find anything in my ass.

For those of you with a strong stomach, you can see a picture of my colonoscopy that the doctor gave me.
