Any good?
Temporary green cardSince it may be a while before the physical green card arrives, and I may need to travel for business before that time, I went to Wichita yesterday to get a temporary green card on my passport. The immigration office had several people waiting there by the time I arrived, it consisted mostly of Mexican parents and their children. Several children were translating for their parents. It took them about 30 minutes to get to me. They took my passport and 2 minutes later they came back with this stamp on it:
I think I could have made that myself at home by carving a potato. Maybe they should give the people working there some glitter and markers to make the stamp look more exciting. They could draw smiley faces and rainbows. But at least that stamp is as good as a green card. It allows me to work and live anywhere in the United States and to come in and out without a problem. It has a 1 year expiry date because they assume that you’ll have the actual card by then, otherwise they’ll stamp it again. Flying Spaghetti MonsterAn open letter to the Kansas school board has been posted explaining that one of the theories as to how all of this came to be is “Flying Spaghetti Monsterism”. This alternative theory, based on science and not faith, explains that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. Not just that, but when teaching this theory, a pirate costume must be worn as not to upset Him. In order to scientifically proof that necessity, there is a chart that clearly shows the increase in global temperature when compared with the constantly decreasing number of pirates. I recommend that you take a couple of minutes of your time to read the open letter because I think we may have finally found the truth. Oh, and there is a re-creation of the creation at the end of the letter that just cannot be missed.

Come On! Big money, big money, no whammy! One of the nice things about being a permanent resident is that now I can enter all sort of contests and sweepstakes since “legal resident” is always one of the first requirements in order to be able to qualify for any prizes. That ticket to space is as good as mine!
That pesky amendmentEver heard of the 22nd amendment to the constitution? It goes something like this:
Well, it turns out that the republicans want their God-appointed leader to keep saving us from “terrah” by coming back and do this thing for a few more years. http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c109:H.J.RES.24.IH:
Although, I think that Bush has been overheard saying “presidenting is hard” so who knows if he’ll want to keep … er… well, presidenting.
Oh. My. Deity.I have just received a 2nd email from INS. My I-485 has been approved. I am now a legal permanent resident. Yes, that means I now have a green card, bitches!
BureaucracyToday I received a very special email. It said that I have been approved for an immigrant visa for the US. As most of you know, I’m originally from Spain but I’ve been here using a student visa first and a work visa later. Unfortunately work visas are only valid for up to 6 years so you either must leave the country or figure out how to get a green card.
That means that an immigrant visa in my favor has been approved. Now I just need to adjust status to permanent resident. I should hear on that any day now. And by any day now I mean tomorrow or 10 months from now. But at least over 90% of the battle is over. I am so relieved. Outhouse collection
