Interview

This morning I had a phone interview for a job at a university and department that really impressed me after I toured them a few years ago. I was very excited when they asked to talk to me on the phone because I would absolutely enjoy the job.

How did I do? Well, I was much more nervous than I thought I would. Maybe I over-prepared. I think that I rambled with some questions and I’m afraid that even my accent got thicker. It was frustrating because I know I’m very qualified for the job. It is, after all, almost the same thing that I’m doing right now at a department that is extremely similar to theirs. It is hard to talk to a group of people on a speaker-phone, specially when you can’t see their faces or their non-verbal feedback.

I wish I would have performed better over the phone but I guess that this whole adventure is out of my hands right now. I hope they give me the chance for a face-to-face interview because I think that’s what I’m much better at. Wish me luck!
