The Discriminator

The California legislature has approved gay marriage in the state. It is now up to the Governator to either sign it into law or veto it. Guess which one he is hintting at? Veto it, of course.

He says that “the issue should be decided either by a vote of the people or a court decision.”

How many times have I said that the rights of a minority should not be put up to vote by the majority? What if we had left slavery or segregation up to a vote?

Like my friend Kendra says: “so if the courts make a ruling in favor of gays, people freak about activist judges. They say that the people should decide and those judges aren’t elected by the people. But when the legislature, that IS elected by the people, passes something, the people or the courts needs to decide? WTF?”

Update: Girly man has announced that he will veto this bill. Thank you Arnold for keeping people safe from all those gays who want to marry!
