Now that I am moving to Florida, I have decided to return to cable and dump Dish Network. Their prices keep going up, they don’t carry some of the channels I want, and the cable company in Orlando has agreed to freeze my rate for the next 2 years as of this month.
But it turns out that Dish is saying that I owe them money. The conversation went like this:
Dish - You still owe us $100 [not true, it’s about $90 for the every-channel package) Me - For what? Dish - Service for Feb 15 - March 15. You pay a month ahead of time. Me - I’m scheduled for disconnection Feb 14th. Dish - You still have an outstanding balance. Me - Why would I pay for a month in which I won’t be receiving service? Dish - We’ll refund you once you disconnect. Me - That sounds pointless, why would I give you money to then get that money refunded? Dish - Because the account still shows that amount due for the next month of service. Me - When is the bill due? Dish - Feb 20th Me - So that’s after I am already disconnected. What if I don’t pay? Then it will all balance out to $0 owed. Dish - (silence) Me - *click*
