Last Friday!
Today is my last Friday at my current job in Kansas. Next Thursday will be my last day here, then on Friday I get to load up a big Budget truck and then leave the next day!
It’s weird to have things at this job wind down to the point that I have pretty much run out of things to do. I’m no longer involved in most meetings and I hardly get any calls or emails since most people think I’ve already left.
On the other side, the folks at the new job in Orlando have been absolutely fantastic. They’ve been emailing me, now they are chatting with me on Yahoo Messenger and just making me feel welcome. It definitely takes the edge off starting a new job in a new city with no friends.
One more week and the adventure will begin!

Disconnecting Dish Network
Now that I am moving to Florida, I have decided to return to cable and dump Dish Network. Their prices keep going up, they don’t carry some of the channels I want, and the cable company in Orlando has agreed to freeze my rate for the next 2 years as of this month.
But it turns out that Dish is saying that I owe them money. The conversation went like this:
Dish - You still owe us $100 [not true, it’s about $90 for the every-channel package)
Me - For what?
Dish - Service for Feb 15 - March 15. You pay a month ahead of time.
Me - I’m scheduled for disconnection Feb 14th.
Dish - You still have an outstanding balance.
Me - Why would I pay for a month in which I won’t be receiving service?
Dish - We’ll refund you once you disconnect.
Me - That sounds pointless, why would I give you money to then get that money refunded?
Dish - Because the account still shows that amount due for the next month of service.
Me - When is the bill due?
Dish - Feb 20th
Me - So that’s after I am already disconnected. What if I don’t pay? Then it will all balance out to $0 owed.
Dish - (silence)
Me - *click*
