Debbie Downer Does Disney

I’m addicted to You Tube, it’s no secret. Some videos are neat, others stupid, others make me smile, and others even giggle a little. But so far there is only one video that has made me laugh out loud by myself. I haven’t watched SNL in years, but apparently they have a character called “Debbie Downer” who always finds a way to bring up something depressing during conversation.

There is a skit of Debbie Downer and her friends at Disney World, eating at a character breakfast, getting ready to hit the parks. And yet even while at the happiest place in the world, Debbie finds a way to down everyone.

But not only is it funny, the cast members themselves are cracking up and can’t hold it. Not even Debbie. It’s definitely worth a watch.

Pink!

What are people thinking when they decorate their houses?

Since I started house shopping on the Internet, I have seen the pinnacle of bad taste. From deep blue carpet, to pastel pink hallways, to, er… hot pink kitchens.

Pre-approved

I’ve been pre-approved for a mortgage. I find it scary that a company would trust me by giving me so much money. My credit seems to be pretty good, it seems that my credit score is 769 and the two lenders I talked to said that I can pretty much get what I want at the best rates. So yay for that.

I knew it was going to be a good day when I went to a Pepsi vending machine to grab some breakfast and I found a $1 bill on the ground.

So the next step now is to start looking at properties. But I don’t want to close until middle of February so I don’t want to start too soon or wait too long.

How exciting. Shopping for homes is more fun than shopping for vacuum cleaners.

UPDATE: We’ll start looking at houses with the realtor on December 8th. In the meanwhile I’m going to drive around and see what else is out there and I’ll also get some of those free books and magazines with home listings and I’ll report to him anything that I see and like.

And so it begins

Today I got in contact with a realtor. *girly scream* *waving of hands at eye level*

He came highly recommended and I see why. I think he is a little hyperactive, but that’s probably not a bad thing when it comes to this.

We talked about what I’m looking for, location, etc, etc. We then talked about my financial situation, he thinks we can work something out and he referred me to his loan lady to begin some type of pre-approval process.

So now I’m waiting to hear back from that lady to see what information she needs from me and then we’ll take it from there.

Home sweet home

Until recently, a vacuum cleaner purchase was about the most adult purchase I have ever done. But now I’m considering the ultimate adult purchase. No Madonna, it’s not a baby. It’s a home.

I’ve only been in Florida for about 9 months but I love it here and renting is a waste of money, for a little more every month, I could own my own home.

The home prices here skyrocketed, just as they did everywhere else but they are now starting to go back down to more realistic levels. They are still a bit high, but they are more reasonable.

There are a ton of condos for sale out here. So many that they are now having a hard time moving them and I have even heard of a couple condo communities that were planned and not built at the last minute because of this problem.

So I’m thinking about looking for 2+ bedroom homes, hopefully between the area where I live now and Disney World. Why those restrictions? Because I do not want to have to drive through Downtown Orlando to get to work everyday. Not that the I-4 is a child’s game during rush hour, but at least it’s not full of toll roads like the 408 which does go through the downtown area. Besides, I go to Disney World at least once a week, so why try to move even further away from it? Say I moved right next to Disney, that would increase my daily commute by about 15 minutes, not bad. More, of course, if there was traffic. I work about 5 minutes north of Universal Studios.

I’ve been looking at homes on the Internet and I found a few that would fit my budget, some even have a pool. How cool would that be?

So maybe it’s time to grow up (just a little) and call a realtor one of these days and see what’s up.

Scary and exciting at the same time.

Self healing

Last night I woke up to use the bathroom and I found two small cuts on the palm of my right hand. They hurt a lot and I wondered how they got there.

But now this morning, they are gone and there is no trace of them.

Am I like the cheerleader?

I need a lesbian friend

The “check engine” light came on in my car. I have no idea what it means, but it scares me. It’s there from the moment that I start the car. Laughing at me with its dangerous looking orange glow.

If I was still back in Kansas, I could just drop it off at the Jeep dealership and have a friend pick me up on the way to work. Here in Orlando those type of logistics are more complicated and require bigger favors.

I did notice that it came on after I put gas in my car. The Internets say that sometimes that light comes on due to an improperly closed gas cap. So when I parked at work this morning, I opened the gas cap and closed it again. That’s about the limit of my car-fixing skills. I will find out if it worked when I get back in my car after work.

If my car was paid off, now it would be a good time to figure out how to reset that light and sell it quickly.

UPDATE: Apparently the gas cap trick worked. Lesbians can now stop sending me myspace friends requests. Thank you!
