iPhoneYes. I am the proud owner of an iPhone. I got out of work at noon and I decided to swing by 2 AT&T stores near my work. One of them seemed closed, weird, so I went to the other one. There were about 5 people in line. Since I didn’t want to wait for 6 hours I decided to drive one more block and go to Universal Studios to kill some time. I ended up grabbing some lunch and watching The Fantastic 4 movie (it was alright.) I picked up my car (gotta love free valet parking) and I drove to the AT&T store. I got there at about 3 pm and I was 10 in line. The wait was a lot of fun. Everyone in line was very friendly, everyone excited about the iPhone and slowly the line started to grow. People were coming from a nearby Apple Store saying that there were about 300 people there so they decided to try some AT&T stores. Apparently the other Apple Store in Orlando was even worse for what they were saying. The manager would come by once in a while with a guy from Apple and they would chat with people and answer questions. People would drive by the store and ask “is this the line for the iPhone” and then would say “good luck!” By 6 pm the line was about 60 or 70 people long and the Orlando PD was there to keep things in order just in case. They let the first 8 in since they only had 8 agents processing the iPhones. A few minutes later, the first lucky iPhone owner came out and everyone clapped. They let the guy in front of me in. A couple of minutes later, I was next in the store. I told them I wanted an 8G iPhone, they went and grabbed it and began the check-out process. And then, boom! all the computers were down. So we all got to sit around for about 15 minutes while they were getting the system back up. After that, for some reason, my agent kept having problems processing my order (figures) but after some help from a supervisor, they got everything straightened out and by 6:35 I was walking out of the store with an AT&T bag holding my precious iPhone. I came home, hooked it up to the computer, went through the activation process and that was it! The iPhone rules. The screen is beautiful, it’s so easy to use and even the keyboard is not bad at all. It’s a bit odd at first, but you get used to it very quickly! While we we were waiting for the computers to come back up the guy looked at me and he said “we only have 40 iPhones, every store in town got the same amount, even the 2 Apple stores. It’s going to get nasty.” No wonder the Orlando PD was there. Some people were going to be very upset. I got out of the parking lot as quickly as possible. iDayHappy iPhone day everybody. I’m sure I’ll be the only one crazy enough out of us to wait outside an AT&T store for 2 or 3 hours to try to get my hands on the Jesus phone.
Heh. (Language not safe for work)And continuing with my YouTube obsession…
FingeringMaybe I’m just easily amused, but I loved this video (give it a bit of time to get started.)
I hate waiting
5 seconds of intense drama
We are the WebNet neutrality. It’s a good thing. Really.
Attention America!I have finally found Stephen Colbert’s Americone Dream ice cream at the 7-11 in Orange & Kaley (thanks Todd!) The verdict? It tastes like the truth!
HuhWhat do you know. Lucky Number Slevin is a really good movie. And I’m not just saying that. We all agreed. Go rent it.
